SELA Sports Skills Age 2 – 6th Grade · Tennis · Soccer · Pickleball

Movement is more than activity.

It’s how children build coordination, confidence, and connection.

01 / The Approach

At SELA, sports skills are an integrated part of how students learn and grow. Through structured physical education, students develop coordination, teamwork, and problem-solving—building both physical ability and the confidence to use it.

How It’s Structured

Our program is designed to grow with each student:

  1. 01Integrated into the curriculum from age 2 through 6th grade
  2. 02Age-specific instruction and games
  3. 03Ongoing assessment to monitor development and progress
  4. 04Opportunities for team sports and competition in later grades
03 / What Makes Us Different

What Makes Our Program Different

A

Built from the Ground Up

Athletic development starts early. Students are guided by a dedicated PE specialist through tennis, soccer, and pickleball—learning skills progressively at each stage.

B

Brain + Body Connection

Through hands-on, movement-based learning, students strengthen the connection between how they think and how they move—supporting focus, coordination, and overall development.

C

Core Skill Development

We focus on the fundamentals every athlete needs:

A SELA student returning a ball during a tennis lesson on the outdoor court
On the baseline · Tennis
SELA students dribbling and passing during a soccer session on the field
Reading the field · Soccer
SELA's outdoor sports court where students practice tennis, soccer, and pickleball
The sports court · Hingham + Norwell
  1. Movement
  2. Throwing
  3. Kicking
  4. Catching
  5. Striking

These skills are intentionally revisited and reinforced, helping students build confidence and proficiency over time.

06 / The SELA Difference

We’re not just playing games. We’re building confident, capable athletes—ready for what’s next.

This isn’t just physical education. It’s a structured approach to building how children move, think, and work with others—skills that support success far beyond athletics.
